Jersey Jack Ice Cream

Jersey Jack is open! The Ice Cream Parlour that I have recently worked on the branding for in Malaysia is now up and running with some delicious looking ice cream and gelato being made!

How good do these look??!!

Cat Cafe Nottingham

A few months ago before we left Nottingham, they recently opened a Cat Cafe, which of course I had to see! There were lots of cats (and cute kittens!) wandering around for the visitors to play with - booking is essential though! It has been something that has existed in Japan for a while now, but definitely a new thing in the UK! The cats are even available for adoption for the right owners, though I may often be referred to as crazy cat lady I had to restrain! Even I have stopped at 2!  This is the website here

New Laser Cuts

Here are some of the new laser cut cards that I have been working on...

Katherine and George

I have been working on some hand made heat embossed wedding invitations for Katherine and George. They wanted 135, so its taken a while but they are done! Here are some of the images, when I have finished photographing I will upload more images.

Home is where you park it

A little something I made for my grandparents, as they set off for the first time in their camper van in France!

Scratch Cards

As I mentioned the other day, I am really keen on making things with these scratch off stickers that I bought! So have been working on ideas for cards etc that would work well with them such as questions (Will you be my bridesmaid??) and also baby announcements. I had seen a very similar concept to the bridesmaid one that I made below, so I need to develop it more into my own style, and hopefully build up a range of these types of scratch cards

Cubanisto I Rum Flavoured Beer

Recently I have been working on some concept ideas for the beer brand - Cubanisto. They wanted an invite designing for a secret event for 'The House of Mask', the theme was to be quite dark, secret and not really reveal anything about the venue. Playing with the idea of keys, masks and of course their signature skull. I am still working on ideas but here are a few from where I started.

Jersey Jack Ice Cream

Recently I have been working on the branding for a new Ice Cream company in Malaysia, Jersey Jack. The business is starting out using traditional tricycles to sell their homemade old fashioned ice cream. The name came from the owners son (Jack) and the Jersey cows where the milk comes from (the cows have been imported into Malaysia - so everything is fresh and local). They wanted the branding to stay traditional yet modern and classy, so we stuck to something very clean and simple. Here are a few images so far, I will put more on once the project is finished!

A homemade Mothers Day

For Mothers Day this year I have been busy making some gifts, as well I will be cooking. I am making Pandan chicken, steamed seabass with ginger and spring onion and molten mint chocolate bombes!

I made some earrings for the first time - which were a lot easier than I thought!

I also made some fridge magnets with funny old photos and quotes on that I found.

I also painted a wooden plaque with a quote on it. Its rather glittery as I accidentaly sprayed it with more glitter as opposed to clear lacquer!  Oh well you can never have too much glitter!

Chinese New Year 2015

This year for Chinese New Year I made little envelopes (Ang Pao) using vintage Chinese Adverts and filled them with Lucky things - A scratch card, a fortune, fortune fish and a description about Maneki Neko (which I also gave everyone). I got to use the scratch stickers again on the fortune cookie cards!

I ordered the little Maneki Neko (cats) from Japan and when they arrived they came with this lovely handwritten note and a origami crane - such a sweet personal touch!

A book of memories

Along with the invites I made for my Nanna's birthday I also made her a memory book. I collected memories and stories from all her family and friends and made a scrap book for her, I think there must have been about 50 pages in it - it became my life for about 2 weeks! Here are a few images of some of the spreads. We also made those chalk wine glasses for the party!

Valentines Scratch Cards

Fot Valentines day I made some scratch cards with a gift on each one, I made 12 so there is a gift for every month until the next Valentines day. A little while ago I discovered the scratch off stickers, since then I want to turn everything into a scratch card!!

A BIG Catch up!

Its been a while since I have updated the blog so here is a big catch up on the things that I have been doing over the last few months!

Most recently I have designed an invitation suite for my Nannas 70th. The design included RSVP, envelope liners, invitations and photos. I painted the flowers by hand and then scanned them in to be used across both the liners and invitations. I also hand lettered the addresses on the front of the envelopes

In the process of making them. The above invite was a test print.

My Thai

Ingredients:

Sugar syrup: 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, 2 lemon grass

Drink: 50ml sugar syrup, 50ml vodka, juice of half a lime, 4 basil leaves, 2 cm ginger and ice

1. Boil the water with the lemongrass in to dissolve the sugar, once this has dissolved strain into a jar and keep in the fridge.

2. Shake up the sugar syrup, vodka, lime, basil and ginger in a cocktail shaker with ice and pour into a glass over ice. And the enjoy!

Sherwood Art Week 2014

Just lately I have been busy preparing things for my application to Sherwood Art Week, the majority of things are cards and paper goods as well as a few small gifts, I had to restrain from going off on a tangent! But I'm sure over the next few months I will get lots more things made, one thing especially that I want to have a go at is making scarves (pom poms galore!)

Here are some of the things that I have been making:

I have done about 10 different designs in total of animals and faces all embellished with wearable hair clips, bows, bracelets and necklaces, so its a card and a small gift all in one!

Chinese New Year 2014

Gong Xi Fa Cai!

As my husband is part Chinese, we celebrate Chinese new year. I like to make little favours/gifts for our guests, here are some that I made last year

zh_cny2.jpg

This year I thought I would do something different, so I made tags for lucky bamboo and also some sparkler 'holders' using vintage Chinese adverts. I also attempted making jelly, it was a bit experimental but a success, as I made glittery lychee jelly, I think I will put glitter in every jelly I make from now on! (Its the inner magpie!)
